Welcome to DUNCA.
I am a graphic designer and I enjoy building professional websites. I work with a number of people including Steve at www.steve-t-design.co.uk. In time, this site will be a showcase for my work and a kind of electronic notepad for my thoughts and ideas — not all design related.
THOUGHTS/OPINIONS
Harsh times
Is it me or is the Credit Crunch a load of old bollocks?
It seems we love to talk our way in to bad things. Yes there is a downturn and that shouldn’t be surprising as our economy has boomed in the last ten years, particularly the housing market which got out of control. But when I hear things like ‘sales of baked beans are rising’ and ‘more people will be clothes shopping in charity shops’ and ‘less people will be taking holidays overseas’ my blood starts to boil.
Rant over.
24 Jul, 2008 | NewsGee… What… Where did all this Heat come from?
I find it difficult to name my most favourite film because different films are good for different reasons. But if I had to name one, it’s got to be Heat (1995). Beautifully directed by Michael Mann, Heat is a showdown between professional thief De Niro and LAPD detective Al Pacino. De Niro is excellent in everything he does and Michael Mann’s direction is superb. From the cityscapes to the moody interior scenes to all-out carnage of a gun battle in downtown LA. Even the audio is great.
Here’s a question though. What is going on with Val Kilmer’s elbow?
Apparently he broke his arm badly when leaping off stage filming The Doors. So there you go.
Vodafone Rabbit
Vodafone has caught my eye with some excellent branding work. Working with Adrian Johnson the animation of the rabbits are a masterclass in enforcing the Vodafone brand. Adrian Johnson is also responsible for recent advert work for Robinsons.
Clever stuff.

Got to say, I am pretty damned excited about seeing Dark Knight.
14 Jul, 2008 | FilmCoast 2 Coast
I’m training to ride the C2C (Coast to Coast) in about 2 months time. The 140 mile trip from Whitehaven (Cumbria) to Tynemouth (Tyne & Wear) takes you around the lakes and over the Pennines. The question is whether to do it in two or three days. I’m pretty comfortable with the 3 day option: 50 miles a day. But 70 miles a day on the two day option? Not loving the sounds of that.
I need to think about what to eat on the ride. I’ll need plenty of carbs, so what is the best food to take to get maximum energy?
13 Jul, 2008 | Cycling | PersonalSkin Tags
I have a skin tag in the middle of my armpit. Not the most profound news you’ll hear all day but news all the same. The point is, however, that it is now itching and ever so slightly pissing me off.
So what is a skin tag? According to Wikipedia:
an acrochordon (a.k.a. skin tag, pedunculated papilloma or fibroepithelial polyp) is a small benign tumor that forms primarily in areas where the skin forms creases, such as the neck, armpits and groin. They may also occur on the face, usually on the eyelids. Though larger have been seen, they usually range in size from grain of rice to that of a golf ball. The surface of acrochorda may be smooth or irregular in appearance. They are often raised from the surface of the skin on a fleshy stalk called a peduncle. Microscopically, an acrochordon consists of a fibrovascular core, sometimes also with fat cells, covered by an unremarkable epidermis. Since they also contain nerve cells, acrochorda cannot be painlessly removed without anesthesia (usually local).
Does anyone have experience of skin tags and should I just cut the little blighter off?
